Explaining Top-Down Fires
Our owner Damon explains why top-down burn fires are an efficient way to use your fireplace.
Transcript: A new way to build a fire is the top-down burn. And you can certainly Google that, but essentially, it's just the opposite of what you learned in Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts. You're building the fire from the top down. So, put your bigger pieces of wood on the bottom and then your medium size and then your kindling and your fire starter. And it's producing a good bit of heat at the top of the fireplace, helping to create an upward draft before it creates a bunch of smoke. Especially in the high-efficiency appliances, that's what's recommended. Top-down burn. Check it out.
